Imagine a place with an Instagram-worthy aesthetic where you can sip a foamy matcha latte, get your nails done, meet other parents and all while someone else watches your kiddo down the hall.

Now, North County caregivers don’t have to imagine because three moms made all of those ideas a real place called The Lullabar, which opened in Carlsbad last month.

The cafe and nail salon combo with optional child care is the answer to a pandemic problem that didn’t sit well with one of the founders.

Getting a few moments for relaxation and self-care can be difficult, especially for moms of young children and babies. A new wellness cafe in Carlsbad hopes to change that. The Lullabar, which opens in June, is a tranquil space for mothers and caregivers of all ages and genders.

The concept for The Lullabar is the brainchild of San Diego “mompreneurs” Stephanie Issa and Christine Ong Forsythe. The friends, both of whom were new moms during the pandemic, were overcome by the loneliness caused by the lockdown as well as the social limitations that many public spaces continue to place on parents.

The cafe aims to provide a space for mothers and caregivers to connect with others while taking part in self-care services while little ones are safely entertained in the play space.

At The Lullabar, moms and caregivers can meet with friends for coffee or matcha, or use the cafe as a workspace. The cafe will also offer a range of self-care services, such as mani/pedis and meditation classes.

The Lullabar in Carlsbad is a wellness cafe focused on moms and caregivers, with self-care services, a bistro and childcare all under the same roof.

“I’m really proud of seeing moms or even dads just hanging out,” said co-founder Stephanie Issa. “They’re just enjoying themselves (at The Lullabar) and they’re all very appreciative and thankful and some even get emotional with me.”

After dealing with a lack of modern, adult-friendly play spaces for kids, Issa, Christine Ong Forsythe and Christine Dawood joined forces to bring a new type of space for both parents and kids.

I’m so excited to see a wellness cafe for moms open up in Carlsbad, CA! The Lullabar is a beautiful wellness cafe that provides opportunities for mothers to reconnect with themselves and their community. It’s a space to meet up with friends while the little ones can go to the play space. Moms can get a mani/pedi, go to a workshop, join a meditation class, take time to get work done or grab a bite to eat. Their cafe also offers delicious drinks like lattes, matcha’s and lemonades. This place is ideal for any moms in San Diego that need a little break, self care or have a nice place to relax. The play space is ideal for kiddos 14 months to 6 years. I took my 11 year old to check out the spot and we both had the most amazing pedicures ever.
