Music Together® Classes for Parents & Children 0-4 Years Old

Are you looking for an education-based activity for you and your child?

The Lullabar is now partnering with Blossom Music Tree to offer the Music Together® program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and the grownups who love them.

Our enrollment is for an 8-week program on Mondays from September 18th to Monday, November 6th. The program is offered at two time slots: 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM.

If you wish to enroll after our program starts, please contact us at (858) 345-2283.

Join us this Fall for the Bongos Collection! We’ll be featuring lots of upbeat, active songs like See How I’m Jumping, our take on the timeless nursery rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle, and beautiful melodies such as the Japanese song Hotaru Koi and Walking through the Woods.

In addition to your weekly classes, your tuition includes 25 songs & recordings, an illustrated songbook for you to use at home, and online access to the songs through the Music Together app. Join us for our Fall Session and bring music into your family’s life!

These mixed-age classes (0-4yrs) build on your child’s natural enthusiasm for music and movement, providing them with basic musical skills needed to enjoy social musical activities and discover their inner music-maker with their caregivers. With Music Together’s award-winning music and illustrated songbooks, you can continue the live music-making at home and nurture your child’s musical growth.

Did you know all children are born musical?

Every child can achieve basic music competence before age 5: to learn to sing in tune and dance accurately to a beat. This is achieved through parents and caregivers participating in class with model music-making for their children in class and at home, regardless of their own musical ability. Because music learning supports all learning, this active music-making creates unique connections in the brain that support your child’s language, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Every collection of music is chosen based on the appropriateness of songs for families in a diverse and global community. All songs from the 12 collections are informed by the Music Together Song Advisory Board, a rotating panel of experts in ethnomusicology, music history, music education, and culture. With Music Together’s rich musical repertoire, children are immersed in different time signatures, meters, sounds, tonalities, and cultures.

Benefits of Mixed-Age Classes

Child development researchers have known for a long time that the natural, family-style environment of mixed-age classes is the best way for young children to learn.

Babies

Your baby is a natural-born music-maker—cooing when you sing to them or wiggling when you dance for them. Even wee babies are alert to musical sounds and respond to melody and rhythm. In these mixed-age classes, you’ll learn musical ways to interact and bond with your baby and nurture their inner musician.

Toddlers

Your always-curious toddler is starting to learn about the world and interact with grownups and other children in new (and often surprising) ways. Toddlers learn by watching others, playing, and experimenting. Mixed-age classes are perfectly aligned with this type of learning because they allow children to participate in their own way in a relaxed, family-style atmosphere.

Preschoolers

Your preschooler’s musical creativity, enthusiasm, and skills are growing by leaps and bounds! In our mixed-age classes, preschoolers are the class leaders and are encouraged to contribute their ideas and lead the younger children, who love to watch and imitate them. And because music learning supports all learning, your preschooler will also develop other skills they’ll need to succeed in school and life.

About the Instructor:

Daveen DiGiacomo, Center Director of Blossom Music Tree

Daveen DiGiacomo

Your Teacher

Daveen DiGiacomo is the center director of Blossom Music Tree and a music educator to young children for over 25 years. She started teaching piano and band & orchestra at elementary schools in Los Angeles. After discovering the Music Together® program in 2007, she put down her baton, picked up her shakers, did a couple dance moves and has been teaching it ever since. Daveen loves sharing her enthusiasm for music with families and is passionate about the teachings and philosophies behind the Music Together program. She takes great pleasure in connecting families together while showing parents how to be musical with their children.

Daveen holds a B.A. in Music from San Francisco State University and is a licensed Music Together director and teacher. She was raised in Iowa where the corn was sweet and the sunsets golden. She spent many years in San Francisco, composing music for dance and theatre companies throughout the Bay Area.

She decided to exchange the fog forecast for the surf forecast in 2012 and became apart of the sunny North County San Diego community, where she started Blossom Music Tree. She loves using her accordion in class and it’s been known for parents to finally give in to their toddler’s requests for a smaller version of her squeezebox. She secretly hopes to start a new generation of accordion players.
